BRONXVILLE: Fire Commissioner Election Coming Next Tuesday, Dec. 8
Thanks to: myhometownbronxville.com
Nov. 25, 2009: No flyers are being passed around, no yard signs are visible, and in fact, it’s hard to tell that there is a local election coming up in a few days-Tuesday, Dec. 8. The election is to choose a Commissioner for the Town of Eastchester Fire District, which encompasses Bronxville, Tuckahoe, and Eastchester.
The District is governed by five unpaid Commissioners who are elected for five-year terms. Fire District elections are far from pitched battles. A grand total of 25 voters (out of a total of 20,861 registered voters!) cast ballots in the last election, when there was no contest.
Joseph Villaneuva Esq. is running for the position of Fire Commissioner and we strongly endorse him. A Bronxville Village resident Joe has a solid track record of supporting the Village and bring a level of professionalism and organizational skills to everything he does. In this difficult fiscal environment that is what is needed to control budgetary waste and to insure that the Firefighters get the equipment that they need.
