Thomas DiNapoli, Comptroller of the State of New York Announces Audit of the City of Yonkers
Yonkers Tribune is reporting that the Mayor of Yonkers has received a letter from the State Comptrollers’ Office indicating that they have “selected” Yonkers to audit the internal controls relating to police and fire overtime. The City spends an enormous amount of money on overtime each year, which has always begged the question why not hire more officers and fire fighters and reduce the overtime, since Union overtime scale is so costly.
Is this a surprise to anyone? I have no doubt that there will be a lot more to this story.
This comes as no surprise especially when the Governor is slashing everyday.
